Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond

We were absolutely delighted to be requested to do the Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond for Martin and Aynslie’s big day.

When Martin and Aynslie booked in with us their request fell into our basic package which suited their needs just perfectly.

Check out our Wedding Packages if you are looking for a Wedding Photographer for your Wedding.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond – Pre Ceremony

The package that Martin and Aynslie chose starts just before the Ceremony and the Lodge on Loch Lomond offers multiple venues for Wedding Ceremonies.

On this day we were in the smaller lodge but the settings were still stunning and suited to such a beautiful wedding.

We flew the drone for a little bit to get some aerial footage of the venue and surrounding area but this also gave us the opportunity to meet the Wedding Planner and todays celebrant.

If I haven’t said before ( I have ), but I love working with Wedding Planners and Coordinators…they make my day go so much easier and today was no different as Kelly was on hand to keep us right with times and directions etc.

The Celebrant was Tony Goodall, this was our first time working with Tony and I hope it won’t be the last, what an absolute beautiful, funny and personal service he delivered, I can’t recommend Tony enough so check him out at the link above on his name.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond – The Ceremony

Ok, so now on to the good bit…well maybe in a bit as I have to say laughingly it was the first time I have been at a Wedding that the Groom was late…sorry Martin, had to say it 🙂

All joking aside unfortunately traffic on the way held Martin up but there at one moment when Tony, Kelly, Liz and Myself were stood looking at each other asking where he was lol

However, not too long had passed before Martin appeared looking rather dashing and ready to go…eh, I’ll re-word that…ready to get on with it 🙂

The room the Ceremony was held in was very spacious and has a large window looking out to Loch Lomond and beyond.

Slight Photography Technical Talk Here

From a Wedding Photography point of view this scenario can be a bit frustrating for some, especially those a little less experienced.

With such a large light source and with light conditions changing all the time it could cause you exposure problems, especially for those who like to shoot manual the whole day.

I opted to jump in and out of Manual into AV Mode at times to combat the changing light.

The next issue is shooting such a bright background could possibly silhouette your subject, especially if you get lazy in AV Mode and don’t expose correctly.

The alternative is to shoot with flash all day, but that is an extreme measure. As it is, I actually like to over expose my background in these situations as it allows your subject to stand out better and it can also take away distracting elements in the background when the viewer should be focusing on the couple for instance.

Ok, back to the Ceremony.

The Ceremony

As I said, Tony gave an excellent service and I knew we were getting a great Celebrant by how he started and within minutes everyone was laughing and relaxed.

Beforehand I had talked to him just to make sure he was happy with me moving around and snapping away which he was.

Here are just a few of the images from the Ceremony of the Wedding Photography at Lodge in Loch Lomond.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond – The Groups

Wow, what a Ceremony, loads of emotions, lots of laughter, tears and joy, just what a wedding ceremony needs but we move on, and now on to the groups.

Martin and Aynslie had quite a few group images for us to get through and when I saw the list I asked if someone would be calling these out for us, and most importantly tracking the people down.

I have done a few weddings where I have been left to call the groups which I don’t mind but it does eat into the time when I need to start tracking ‘Uncle Bob’ down, usually from the Bar to get into the family group photo.

That being said, Aynslie had organised people to carry this out and I have to give the couple and Aynslie’s cousin a massive shout out as without them we would have been there for ages, so a huge thanks guys as you helped us out massively.

And again, here are just a few from The Group images.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond – First Bride and Groom Shoot

Ok, I may need to have a wee moan here and this has nothing to do with the Bride or Groom, Wedding Party or even Lodge on Loch Lomond, but at the private boat owners.

You may already know but at Lodge on Loch Lomond there is a Pier which just obviously makes a stunning spot to take some Wedding Photos.

Unfortunately, on our day there we had 3 private boats moored at the Pier and the people associated with these boats were having a right good time.

I’m just jealous as I wished it was me lol, however from a photographers perspective it was so frustrating to have that there but it was unusable.

I did approach them but one gentleman told me that they were for a while and that they partied there all the time. So I said to Martin and Aynslie but it was agreed that we would do their shoot elsewhere.

Here are just a few from their first shoot…I say first as we do get down on to the Pier in a while 🙂

Speeches

Speeches are always great, and even better when the Bride gives one as well as the kids.

Cutting The Cake

Before the First Dance it was time to cut the cake.

First Dance

Straight after cutting the cake we were into the First Dance.

Reception

And now it was time for Martin and Aynslie’s guests to show off their moves to the music of the DJ on the night.
